10 Pop Culture Icons of 2019 You Should Go As for Halloween

With Halloween fast approaching, we’re excited to see what everyone has planned for the fun occasion (it’s our favourite time of the year). But just in case you haven’t quite made up your mind on whom to dress up as this spooky szn, we’re here to help.

2019 signed, sealed and delivered with some of the best pop culture icons from television and film to date, and we can guarantee that if you turned up to any Halloween-themed event visually embodying them, it will earn you major brownie points to get that best dressed title at the end of the night.

Without further ado, here are our top 10 2019 pop culture icons for your consideration.

1. Black Mirror’s Ashley O

You’ve probably heard about that episode of Black Mirror starring Miley Cyrus – ‘Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too’, and its catchy song – ‘On A Roll’. If you’re looking to dive into your inner popstar fantasy this Halloween, then you should definitely put on that purple wig, don a preppy white two-piece set and matching boots, and do Ashley O proud.

2. The Joker

Yes, we’re well aware that the Joker’s a very overdone costume for Halloween. But even you have to admit that Joaquin Phoenix’s incredible performance in Joker makes you compelled to dress as him. Simply abuse a can of green hairspray, embrace face paint in shades of white, blue and red, followed by a red suit, and you’re all set to “put on (your) happy face.”

3. Game of Thrones’ Cersei Lannister

It’s all about the villains for Halloween, and one of our all time favourites is Game of Thrones’ very own Cersei Lannister. The best part about dressing up as her is the sheer number of looks you’d get to play with before ultimately deciding on the one that’s best for you. Long hair? Go as pre-shamed Cersei. Short hair? Go as season eight Cersei and grab an elephant plushie as a prop while you’re at it.

4. Stranger Things’ Robin Buckley

Here’s one for the Stranger Things fans out there. If you’re keen on going as a badass icon this Halloween, then Robin’s the character for you. All you need is a cute sailor’s outfit (which you can find at practically any costume store) and a customised ‘Ahoy’ hat of your own (use a blue Sharpie), and there you go; you’re immediately 100% cooler.

5. Euphoria

If you and your friends are interested in dressing up collectively, we’d like to suggest Euphoria. What’s great about this is that there’s a character for every type of girl – the cool girl (Rue in the suit), the glam girl (Jules as the angel, Kat as the nun, and Cassie in blue), and the funny girl (Lexi as Bob Ross). You’re sure to stand out at any party with these looks!

6. Killing Eve’s Villanelle

If you’re planning on churning out multiple looks this spooky szn, Killing Eve’s Villanelle is the perfect character for you. Our girl is known for her many disguises and cute outfits (like this pink number) on a daily, offering you a multitude of choices for you to turn out. Just pick one and go with it! Brownie points if you can nail the accent too.

7. Umbrella Academy

Let’s make this fun and play Umbrella Academy roulette. Sit yourself down with six other friends and pick a number from one to seven at random. The number you pick will be the hero and power you get. Not to fret if there are more than seven of you, there’s always mom, Hargreeves and Pogo!

8. Gentleman Jack

Who doesn’t love Suranne Jones, am I right? If you’re one for historical figures and 18th Century fashion, this is the look for you. Find a partner and grace yourselves as Gentleman Jack’s Anne Lister and Ann Walker, and we can assure that you’ll look absolutely dashing this Halloween. Don’t forget the curls!

9. Booksmart

Match your best friend in style this October with cute blue jumpsuits and a positive demeanour; there’s not much that can go wrong for this look. Alternatively, if you’re more of a solo individual, go as the gorgeous and quirky Gigi, and dress in well… everything and anything all at once. Either way, you’re sure to look hella cute!
