Artistic director for Italian fashion maison, Daniel Roseberry presented his sequel to his first collection for Schiapparelli that made its debut last summer at the Fall 2019 haute couture fashion week. The 33-year-old designer took elements of Schiapparelli’s signature surrealist designs and added his own modern twist to the brand’s whimsical reputation. The recent collection that walked the Parisian runways took tailoring cues and pops of colour from the mod era of the sixties. Roseberry created a strong and deliberate juxtaposition between tailored suits and heavily embellished gowns. He states that he was “trying to embrace those two different extremes and remove all the middle, and do something that feels uniquely Schiap and personal.”
The duality of a women who dresses for the day with the promise of something magical at night was what Roseberry communicated with his latest collection. This can be seen in the inclusion of chunky jewellery pieces paired with streamlined silhouettes and strategic placement of embellishments.
