Elie Saab‘s show is always one of the most highly anticipated ones in Haute Couture fashion week. The Lebanese fashion designer is known for his beautiful gowns that are the fantasies of brides all over the world. For his Spring 2020 Haute Couture collection, Saab did not hold back, throwing everything into his pieces—embroidery, embellishments, lace, sheer fabrics and so much more. It was a sensory overload with so many textures, patterns and designs that draw your attention. Saab brings a collection that is made for the confident Disney princess who is able to shine through louder than the crystals that cover her gown. He utilised the classic, soft Spring colours and injected an immense amount of glamour such that each piece was a statement.
A key trend with Saab’s collection was the use of belting to cinch the waist and emphasises the female silhouette, even when the garment is a massive bridal grown with a giant organza veil. Sheer accents are also a huge trend we saw that will probably translate into a major bridal trend in 2020.
