According to local news outlets, Crash Landing On You has achieved the highest viewer ratings, smashing the previous record held by 2017’s mega-hit, Goblin which starred Gong Yoo and Kim Go-Eun. The latter’s finale had an average viewership rating of 20.5% while Crashing Landing On You achieves peak viewership of 24.1% and an average of 21.7%. This is the highest ratings in tvN’s history, an incredible testament to the popularity of this unlikely romance spanning across Korea’s national borders.
If you have yet to catch on the “Crash Landing Craze”, not to worry, we won’t be spoiling it for you. The TV series revolves around Yoon Se-Ri (played by Son Ye-Jin), a rich heiress who had to make an emergency landing in North Korea while she was paragliding. There, she met a North Korean officer name Ri Jung-Hyuk (played by Hyun Bin) who helped her find her way back home while protecting her along the way. Thus begins an unlikely story, divided by borders.
