Original, 17 March: Fans of Lee Min-Ho, the wait is finally over! The 32-year-old Hallyu star will be gracing the small screen in his first project after completing his mandatory military service. Promotional images and posters of the upcoming South Korean drama, The King: Eternal Monarch have been released in lieu of its April 2020 release date. The images feature a dashing Lee looking royal AF in a military-esque outfit emitting a golden, halo-like glow. Pretty befitting as Lee is playing the main protagonist, Emperor Lee Gon.

Lee stars opposite Goblin‘s Kim Go-Eun who will be playing Detective Jung Tae-Eul. The King: Eternal Monarch is a historical, fantasy and romance television series that revolves around Emperor Lee Gon who tries to close the doors to a parallel world which was opened by demons. These creatures were unleashed by a deity into the human world, causing chaos and mayhem to ensue. In the human world, we meet Detective Jung who simply wishes to protect people and the ones she loves. When the two worlds collide, these two unlikely characters meet and it’s up to them to save all of humanity.

Lee addressed his fans after the drama was announced after the first script reading session in September last year. “After a long break, I am returning with The King: Eternal Monarch,” Lee said, “You have waited a long time, so I will come to you soon and make a good impression. It’s even more meaningful to be able to work with [screenwriter Kim Eun-Sook] again as a more mature [actor], and I will work hard to make this a good project, especially since it’s our second one [together]. Please look forward to the exceptional love story drawn by our drama.”

He had previously worked with screenwriter Kim Eun-Sook in the drama, Heirs, which became an instant success. This will be the second time the two will be working together and we cannot wait!

The King: Eternal Monarch is set to premiere in April 2020 on SBS.
