It seems just yesterday that the buzz around Lee Min-Ho‘s return to K-drama grew to deafening heights. These days, we refer to the 32-year-old South Korean heartthrob as Lee Gon, after his stately character in the fantasy romance TV series, The King: Eternal Monarch. The K-drama, which stars Lee Min-Ho, Kim Go-Eun and Woo Do-Hwan, will be airing its season finale episode this Friday, capping the season to 16 episodes total.
For those who are caught up, it looks like The King: Eternal Monarch is gearing up for an epic, final showdown that will end tragically for some characters. Eun-Sup and Jo-Young’s story came to an emotional climax that had me tearing up, not gonna lie. While the concept of time jumps have been explained (closing an eye on plot holes), the writers of this fantasy drama still have quite a few revelations up their sleeves.
Will Lee Gon be able to change destiny by saving his alternate self and righting the wrongs in both worlds? Will his plan succeed? Once both timelines are reset, how will Lee Gon and Tae-Eul ever meet? Will their love story even have a beginning?
So many plot points will be tied up in this last episode, I can’t wait to see how everything will turn out. For a little teaser, check out this week’s episode trailer below:
