After a rather quiet last few years, it looks like South Korean actor, Kim Soo-Hyun is back for good with his first project hitting the small screen and streaming services this week. The 32-year-old actor has recently signed with a brand new talent agency, Gold Medalist and even created his own Instagram page, which is certainly a huge relief for fans. It has been three years since his last film (Real) and five years since his last K-drama (The Producers). Despite the relatively long hiatus, Kim has maintained a loyal fanbase that has been patiently waiting for their favourite actor’s return.
And this Saturday, the wait is finally over.
Kim Soo-Hyun stars in a new romantic comedy K-drama alongside his new label mate, Seo Ye-Ji titled, It’s Okay To Not Be Okay. Kim plays Moon Gang-Tae who grew up feeling secondary to his autistic older brother Sang-Tae (played by Oh Jung-Se). He believed his parents only had him to make sure someone could take care of his older brother.
Meanwhile, Seo Ye-Ji plays popular children’s books author, Ko Mun-Eong who is famous for her dark stories. She has an anti-social disposition and a fascination for sharp knives. Gang-Tae’s brother, Sang-Tae is a huge fan of her work and ends up being an illustrator for her books.
Ko Mun-Eong and Gang-Tae crosses paths and are immediately drawn to each other. Ko finds him intriguing and similar to her despite their very different personalities, while Gang-Tae felt a sense of strange familiarity in her gaze. The pair help each other overcome their individual past trauma and struggles, resulting in a unique love story akin to a dark fairytale.
