Vera Wang has set the internet alight after sharing a series of photos to celebrate her 71st birthday and Pride Month.
In the photos, the bridalwear designer wears an Adidas sports bra, teal-coloured Balenciaga leggings with a black waistband and a pair of Vera x Kohls sunglasses.
Wang later shared a series of photos of her birthday cakes, which included a hot dog and croissant-shaped cake with candles and a cylindrical cake covered in icing printed with her Instagram photos. She celebrated her birthday on June 27.
Several of the star’s 2.7m Instagram followers took to the comments section of Wang’s photos to comment on how youthful she looks aged 71.
‘You’re eternally youthful and attractive! How do you do that?’ one user commented on a photo.
‘Simply FABULOUS!!!! Thank you for making women feel and look great! At all ages!! [sic]’ another added.
‘You look like 20 years old [sic],’ another wrote.
Another joked: ‘Not only an iconic designer but apparently created anti [ageing]…’
The designer has kept her loyal fanbase up-to-date with her activities during lockdown, sharing several of her at-home looks during the pandemic.
She’s also found the time to joke about her tips for eternal youth which include ‘work, sleep, a vodka cocktail, not much sun…’, according to her Instagram account.
Since May, Wang caused confusion on Twitter with regards to her age, with several users doubting that she was in her seventies.
In response, the official Vera Wang Twitter account has stated: ‘Fact Check: Truth.’
On Sunday, Wang – who has designed wedding dresses for the likes of Sabrina Elba, Lily Aldridge and Alicia Keys – took the opportunity to walk around New York City with a Pride flag over her head and called on her fans to remember the Stonewall Riots, gay liberation activist Marsha P. Johnson and transgender rights activist Sylvia Rivera.
New York City-born Wang previously worked at Vogue for 17 years before joining Ralph Lauren and later became an independent designer.
