Today, I looked at my phone and it hit me that it is already September 15. I also realised it has been two years since I got married — but my husband and I almost forgot. All that made me pause for awhile, not just because we are just two months away from when the Christmas décor starts coming out, but also because I’ve spent the past few months lamenting, muttering repetitive questions like, “When can we travel again?” or “When will this end?” and letting myself drown in the same unmotivated spirit. My last, if not the most vivid memory of 2020 is my birthday trip in March that was cut short due to the pandemic — and everything after that is a blur. That is quite daunting to realise.
I had to come to my own conclusion that no one could give me a definite answer to those questions and I simply mustn’t dwell on it and move on. While we may not live life the same way as we did before, what we do now have is ample time on our hands, since the time we used to spend going out or travelling has all been significantly reduced. I’ve been sitting on the excuse of pandemic for too long to not do anything, and hence, the question for me (and you) today is: What can I do with the time that I have? Help out at a soup kitchen or an animal shelter perhaps? Pick up a new skill you’ve always dreamed of? Maybe work toward a healthier lifestyle? Let’s regroup next month and see how far we have gotten with regard to our goals, not just for the rest of the year, but until we have visibility of where we are going after the pandemic.
Personal life aside, this month, Korean actor Ji Chang Wook fronts our cover. A close encounter indeed, as Ji opens up and tells all about his key to success — a relentless dedication to constantly outperform himself. While the new fashion season is usually upon us in September, this year has proven a little different. October appears to be the new September in this pandemic climate, as the new season will finally complete its drop this month. We’ve highlighted some of our favourite collections from our favourite brands, such as Dolce & Gabbana and Bottega Veneta. We also stop to look at the path local fashion designers have to take — one that is far from straightforward and requires a lot of grit.
Till next month, where we check in on each other’s new goal!
