Structure, utility and sensuality are the keywords that sum up the Hermès latest Spring Summer 2021 collection. Looking at all the Spring Summer collections, designers and their design houses experimented in a whole lot of ways. Some went all out while some a little, some changed their approaches while some kept up with their signature styles. For Hermès, creative director Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski went the Hermès way, but by blending luxury, practicality and sophistication with a touch of sensuality.
The collection reimagines a positive future for the Hermès woman, one where she can be graceful, strong, sensual and confident. The more upbeat colour pallet from deep-red to pale-blue and the materials used like leather and suede reiterates the designer’s positive take for the season.
The show’s opening look, a soft-beige one with a backless bodysuit and leather skirt perfectly encapsulates Vanhee-Cybulski’s 2021 vision. The bareback style adds to the sensuality of the collection that further features more backless bodysuits, bandeau tops, mesh and apron dresses. All in all, feminine structural silhouettes, fluid clothes baring just the right subtle amount of skin brought out the classic but fresher Hermès aesthetic.
Another star from the show was its bags, perhaps next summer’s most coveted ones? Named the Perspective Cavalière and the Mors de Brides, the bags are structural and chic, owning it up with Hermès known alley of signature bags. A surprise element for the show was its clogs which appear in all the 45 looks from on the runway. Described as “Utility meets sensory pleasure”, the shoes and the accessories might just be the next big thing!
