You would have definitely caught wind of the new iPhone 12 series with all the buzz that’s currently happening online. That’s right, Apple has recently unveiled four new iPhone models: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini. The screen size ranges from 5.4-inch on the iPhone 12 Mini to 6.7-inch on the iPhone 12 Pro Max while the screen itself has transitioned to an OLED display.
The iPhone 12 comes in five colours — black, white, red, green and blue — and its also thinner, smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the iPhone 11.
For Apple’s flagship models, the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, the colours available will be grey, stainless steel, gold and blue.
The price point for the new release starts from S$1,149 for the iPhone 12 Mini while the top-of-the-line iPhone 12 Pro Max will cost S$1,799. The prices may differ depending on the storage capacity which starts from 64GB to 256GB for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini while the Pro and Pro Max will have a base storage of 128GB to a maximum of 512GB.
Well, that’s a lot of models considering the brand usually unveils only three max over the past years. But it’s also not surprising that Apple has decided to release more models this year considering that consumer demands have changed over the years and now would want to be given more options to choose from. Regardless of the options, the new iPhone 12 series will definitely be the object of desire for the rest of the year.
Here are 4 features to look out for in the new iPhone 12 series:
The new A14 Bionic chipset
The new A14 Bionic chipset, also built in the new iPad Air 4, will enable the iPhone 12 series to perform tasks quicker and more efficiently. Apple says this new chip is “Generations ahead of the competition,” and that means faster better gaming experience as well as faster photo edits for those selfies you plan to take.
The iPhone 12 models have the same 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens as the iPhone 11 series but what’s different is the software. Coming with the iPhone 12 series is the Dolby Vision, which allows the new iPhone 12 series to shoot cinematic grade video in HDR, meaning sharper and clearer videos. The new iPhone 12 models also have a wider aperture to allow more light to be captured for better photo quality during low-light conditions.
For the Pro and Pro Max models, the highlight will definitely be the triple-camera system housing three separate lenses: 12-megapixel wide lens, telephoto lens and an ultra-wide lens. These lenses will enable the Pro series to have up to 5x zoom capability.
Rejoice! All four of the iPhone 12 models are 5G enabled. With all the talks about the benefits of 5G, it’s certainly good to know that the new models now support 5G. This means faster downloads, better quality video streaming and FaceTime in higher definition.
This feature once seen on Apple’s magnetic cable connector is making a comeback on the back of the iPhone 12 models. Magsafe enables wireless charging up to 15W, just stick to any compatible accessory and the iPhone will be connected effortlessly.
